Guildford Cathedral

Guildford Cathedral is a beautiful twentieth-century Grade II listed building, making it one of Guildford’s most iconic landmarks. Still a working cathedral, offering choral music and daily service, Guildford Cathedral is also open to visitors and is known for its programme of family-friendly activities all year round. Hosting an open-air cafe known as Seasons Cafe & Kitchen, it is the perfect place to enjoy a hot meal and coffee after a day of wandering the cathedral’s grounds.

Historic buildings

Guildford’s historic buildings date back to 500 AD, when the first Pagans settled in Guildford, originally naming it Guilden Ford, meaning golden. You can spend hours exploring the old country houses, including Loseley Park and House, West Horsely Place, and Guildford Cathedral.

Guildford’s striking castle grounds are well worth a visit. From the chalk mound on which Guildford castle sits, you can see over the river Wey and marvel at Guildford’s best-known historical landmark, the iconic 17th-century Guildhall Clock.
