Home Instead Raises Money for Macmillan Cancer Support

The Home Instead team have been out in force preparing, organising and running a “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” cake stand, here at Tanshire Park. The stand was part of the nationwide fundraising initiative that brings people together, at home and at work, all across the country to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support’s incredible work.

The Home Instead team managed to raise an amazing £165.31 from their cake stand which will all go towards funding the life-changing initiatives supported by Macmillan Cancer Support.

If you didn’t know already, Macmillan Cancer Support is one of Britain’s largest charities offering care for cancer patients in a number of areas; often including providing detailed information, financial support, specialist treatment and much more. Macmillan is also known for their work in local communities and providing a place for people affected by cancer to come together. The “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” is one such event.

Home Instead are longstanding tenants here at Tanshire Park and we were proud to support them in hosting their cake sale: Every penny raised going towards funding support all across the country for people living with cancer.

Home Instead has a close connection to Macmillan Cancer Support through their end of life or palliative care. In the unfortunate cases where treatments for cancer don’t work, end of life care aims to make someone’s final months or days as comfortable as possible. This service allows patients to return or remain at home, where they’re more likely to be comfortable and in control. Through the work being done at charities like Macmillan Cancer Support, thankfully these situations are reducing. However, there’s still a huge amount of work to be done.

If you would like to learn more about palliative care you can look on the Home Instead support page or visit the Macmillan Cancer Support site, where they have a number of resources which may help you.

“How we treat people in their final months shows the value that we, as a society, place on life – and at Macmillan we believe that there is such a thing as a ‘good’ death.” – Macmillan Cancer Support
